I’ve spent the past 7 seasons of Project Runway defending the judges to Dingo and the idea that high fashion is not necessarily about wearability, that it can be about extreme ideas that can be softened down to wearability.
But this year? Forget it. Do they want exciting or boring? Do they want clothes that follow the rules of the challenge or that expand on the challenge? They don’t seem to be able to make up their minds about anything other than their desire to make snarky comments.
Thank goodness for On the Road with Austin and Santino. I enjoy that show for the same reason I liked Top Chef Masters: they’re so NICE. They show up in podunk towns with an attitude that they’re going to spread beauty and have a good time, and they do. It’s just the right tonic to follow mean old Michael Kors.
Goodness yes. Although my taste runs to the boring, even I’ve questioned some of their decisions.
I knew that Austin usually sticks to saying nice things, but Santino has put his snark away. I like it! And they’ve designed some lovely things that made people very happy. I loved the video of them dancing at the party of one of their make-over ladies. It was super cute.
Sometimes I think I should move to the Land of Happy and Nice.
I don’t think they’d let me into the Land of Happy and Nice because of my fiction.

I’ve been missing it, I confess, but mostly for Tim Gunn who should’ve been my sugar daddy all those years ago. And as for Michael Kors, have you seen his clothes? I trust nothing that man has to say. Although I did like the episode with the women wrestlers where he didn’t know where to look and came over all matronly.
